Quick answer
To extract text from a PDF, add the file and press Extract. The tool reads the PDFโ€™s text layer and gives you the words to copy or download as a .txt file. Scanned PDFs have no text layer.
Pages (blank = all)
Mark where each page starts

How to use Copy text out

Step 1
Add your PDF.
Step 2
Optionally limit the pages and choose whether to mark page starts.
Step 3
Press Extract now, then copy or download the text.
โ€ข A scanned PDF is really a picture, so it has no text to copy. OCR for scans is on the roadmap.

What people use it for

โ€ข Quote a passage without retyping
โ€ข Feed a document to other tools
โ€ข Check whether a PDF is text or just a scan

Frequently asked questions

Why did I get no text?

Your PDF is probably a scan, which is a picture of text. It needs OCR, which is on our roadmap.

Where do my files go?

Most tools work entirely inside your browser tab, so the PDF is processed on your device and not uploaded to us. The AI tools are the exception: with your own key, the text of your PDF is sent to the AI provider you choose, and they say so before you start.

Do I need an account, and is there a limit?

No account, no watermark and no daily limit set by the site. Very large files are limited only by your deviceโ€™s memory.
