# iDuckPDF

> Free PDF tools that run in your browser: merge, split, compress, rotate, watermark, number pages, redact and more. No sign-up, no watermark, no ads.

- iDuckPDF is a free web app with 32 PDF tools. No sign-up, no watermark, no ads.
- Most tools run entirely inside the user’s web browser, so the PDF is processed on their own device and not uploaded to our servers.
- Exceptions are the two AI tools (summarise, ask a question). They use an API key the user supplies and send the PDF’s text directly from the browser to the AI provider the user chose (OpenAI, Anthropic or Google).
- 11 more tools are planned (password protection, OCR, signing, Office conversions). They are not built yet.
- Built with React Native (Expo); open-source libraries pdf-lib and pdf.js do the PDF work.

## PDF tools
- [Merge PDFs](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/merge): To merge PDFs, add two or more files, put them in order with the arrows, and press Merge. You download one combined PDF, built in your browser tab.
- [Weave two PDFs](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/weave): Weaving alternates pages from two PDFs: page 1 of the first, page 1 of the second, page 2 of the first, and so on. It rebuilds a double-sided document scanned as two separate files.
- [Split a PDF](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/split): To split a PDF, choose how to cut it (by ranges, every N pages, or one file per page), then press Split. Each piece becomes its own PDF, and you can download them all as a ZIP.
- [Pull out pages](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/extract-pages): To extract pages from a PDF, type the pages you want to keep (for example 2, 4-6, last) and press Extract. You get a new PDF with only those pages, in the order you typed them.
- [Delete pages](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/remove-pages): To delete pages from a PDF, type the pages to remove (for example 2, 5-7) and press Delete. The tool returns the PDF without those pages. At least one page must remain.
- [Reorder pages](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/reorder): To reorder PDF pages, type the pages in the order you want (for example 3, 1, 2, 4-6). Pages you leave out are dropped and pages you repeat are duplicated.
- [Flip page order](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/reverse): To reverse a PDF, add it and press Flip. The last page becomes the first, the second-last becomes the second, and so on.
- [Rotate pages](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/rotate): To rotate a PDF, choose 90° clockwise, 180° or 90° counter-clockwise, optionally list which pages, and press Rotate. The new PDF opens with those pages turned.
- [Add blank pages](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/insert-blank): To insert blank pages into a PDF, choose the pages to insert next to, whether before or after, and how many blank pages. The new PDF includes them at those positions.
- [Change page size](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/resize): To resize a PDF, pick a target paper size and press Resize. Each page is scaled to fit and centred on the new size without distortion; landscape pages stay landscape.
- [Trim margins](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/crop): To crop a PDF, enter how much to cut from the top, right, bottom and left (in millimetres, inches or points), choose the pages, and press Trim. The visible page area shrinks accordingly.
- [Print several per sheet](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/n-up): N-up printing places several PDF pages on a single sheet. Choose 2, 4, 6 or 9 per sheet, set margins, and press Build to get a handout-style PDF that saves paper.
- [Repair a PDF](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/repair): The repair tool reads as much of a damaged PDF as it can and copies every readable page into a fresh file. It cannot bring back pages that are truly destroyed.
- [Number the pages](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/page-numbers): To add page numbers to a PDF, choose a position, a format such as “Page {n} of {total}”, the first number, and which pages to number, then press Add numbers.
- [Text watermark](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/text-watermark): To watermark a PDF with text, type the text, choose size, angle, colour and opacity, pick centred or tiled, and press Stamp. The watermark is added to every page you choose.
- [Logo or image stamp](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/image-watermark): To add an image to a PDF, choose the PDF and the image, set its width as a percentage of the page, choose position and opacity, and press Place.
- [Headers & footers](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/headers-footers): To add headers and footers to a PDF, fill in any of the six boxes (left, centre or right, top or bottom). Placeholders {n}, {total}, {date} and {file} fill in automatically on each page.
- [Write on a PDF](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/add-text): To write on a PDF, type your text, set how far from the left and top it should sit (in percent), choose size and colour, and pick the pages. The text is added on top of the page.
- [Photos to PDF](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/images-to-pdf): To convert images to PDF, add your JPG, PNG or WebP files, order them, choose a page size, and press Make PDF. Each image becomes one page.
- [Scan to PDF](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/scan-to-pdf): To scan a document to PDF, take photos of each page (on a phone this opens the camera), choose a clean-up style, and press Make PDF. The tool evens out shadows and builds one PDF.
- [Text or Markdown to PDF](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/text-to-pdf): To turn text or Markdown into a PDF, paste it, choose Markdown or plain text, pick font and page size, and press Make PDF. Headings, bullet lists, quotes and code blocks are laid out automatically.
- [PDF to pictures](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/pdf-to-images): To convert a PDF to images, choose JPG or PNG, a resolution (72 to 300 dpi) and the pages, then press Convert. Multiple images are bundled into one ZIP.
- [Copy text out](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/extract-text): To extract text from a PDF, add the file and press Extract. The tool reads the PDF’s text layer and gives you the words to copy or download as a .txt file. Scanned PDFs have no text layer.
- [Make it smaller](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/compress): To compress a PDF, choose a level and press Shrink. Gentle mode tidies the file and keeps text selectable. Stronger levels turn pages into compressed pictures for bigger savings on scans and photo-heavy files.
- [Grayscale & dark mode](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/restyle): To make a PDF grayscale or dark, choose a look (grayscale, inverted, sepia, high-contrast black and white, or scan clean-up) and press Restyle. Pages are redrawn with the new colours.
- [Inspect a PDF](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/inspect): The inspector reports a PDF’s page count and sizes, its properties (title, author, software, dates), whether hidden XMP metadata, annotations or form fields are present, and what to clean before sharing.
- [Clean & edit properties](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/properties): To remove metadata from a PDF, turn on “Remove all metadata” and press Apply. The title, author, subject, keywords, software and dates are cleared and hidden XMP data is removed.
- [Flatten forms](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/flatten): Flattening turns fillable form fields into ordinary page content so the answers can no longer be edited. You can also strip comments, highlights and links.
- [Black out text](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/redact): To redact a PDF, list the words or patterns to hide, one per line, and press Redact. Matching text is covered with black boxes and every page is saved as an image, so the hidden text cannot be copied out.
- [Spot the differences](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/compare): To compare two PDFs, add the original and the new version and press Compare. You get a page-by-page list showing lines removed from the old version and lines added in the new one.
- [Summarise with AI](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/summarize): To summarise a PDF with AI, add your own API key in Settings once, choose a length, and press Summarise. The text of your PDF is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you picked.
- [Ask your PDF](https://iduckpdf.com/tool/ask): To ask a question about a PDF, add your own API key in Settings, add the PDF, type your question, and press Ask. The answer cites page numbers and says so when the document does not contain the answer.
